Some small tips and suggestions to stay

Transportation
The Tram (metro)
takes about 25 minutes from the airport to the town.

If you do not plan on driving around France, but just want to enjoy the lazing life in and around Nice, it will not be necessary to hire a car - everything is within walking distance or easily accessible by public transportation, which works perfectly.

Excursions
The neighboring town Ville Franche sur Mer, is a nice little town that is definitely worth a visit! There is also a small sand beach.
The beach "Plage Paloma" at Cap Ferrat is really nice too, with a laid back restaurant right at the beach. At Cap Ferrat there also is the amazing villa with garden: Villa Ephrussi.
Venze and Eze are also beautiful mountain towns that can be reached by bus for1.5 €. You can even go skiing in the season at Isola 2000 two hour bus ride from Nice.

Strolling around
There are spectacular views of the city and the sea from the top of the small hill that separates the harbor and the old town. At the top there is a small cafe, a park and a playground. It's a beautiful walk up there, but you can also take the little tourist train that runs from the Promenade des Anglais. One can also go for a walk along the park that surrounds the old town or take a ride on roller skates as many local Nice habitants do.

Nice restaurants
It is packed with restaurants in the Old Town. "Chez Palmyre" located in Rue Droite is a very charming little french restaurant.

The family restaurant "A l'Olivier" is also worth visiting. They make their own olive oil.

Shopping
There are plenty of great shopping opportunities in Nice - Both in the old and the newer part of town!
Every Monday the flowers square is transformed to a large antiques market.
